Q & A About Reiki

Q: What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us. A very popular hospital technique calls this energy "Hands On Healing." If one's "energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, then we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki corresponds the 7 chakras (spinning energy)that are associated with certain body parts & emotional aspects. This healing energy helps to create free-flowing energy throughout the entire body & align each chakra. Most of us have experienced a day (or sometimes a week!) where you just don't feel right, something is off and unbalanced and we can't put our fingers on it. This could be blocked energy regarding a chakra. Reiki is a simple, natural and SAFE method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote energy. My Grandmother had Reiki performed on her each day while she was in hospice care... I performed reiki healing on my sister-in-law during her childbirth... I've also helped with migraines, emotional issues etc. It is truly amazing the effect that Reiki can have on your life!

Q: What does the treatment feel like?

Each treatment is wonderfully personalized for each client. Most people feel an intense feeling of calm & peacefulness. You might see many different colors or focus on certain events in life. The treatment is very relaxing to most. I ALWAYS tell people to journal their thoughts and feelings about their treatment along with the days following your treatment. This can help to explain what areas of energy were blocked or open.

Q: What can be treated with Reiki?

Reiki has had a positive effect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like head or stomach aches, flu, tension and anxiety as well as serious illnesses. The side effects of regular medical treatments can also be reduced or even eliminated. This includes the negative effects of chemotherapy, post-op pain or depression as well as improving the healing rate and reducing your hospital stay. Stress reduction with some improvement in ones physical and psychological condition are what most experience.

Q: Are there side effects from a Reiki treatment?

Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment. However, sometimes a person will experience a healing crisis. Toxins that have been stored in the body can be released into the bloodstream causing a stomachache or headache (just like getting a deep tissue massage). The body is cleansing as part of the healing process so this is a good sign. When this happens, it is a good idea to drink more water to help flush your system.
